Skymall

Description

Ed Prence, aka Skymall, has hosted the Glitch-IDM show on BTR every Monday since 2008.

Fun fact: Ed and Lottie, BTR's Music Director, not only went to high school together but also participated as seniors in the same "Job Shadow Day" in which they ended up shadowing one of the DJs from Pittsburgh's biggest radio station live on-air. From then on, Ed knew what he wanted to do. Not wanting to work at a corporate radio station, playing pre-programmed garbage, he went off to college at the University of Miami (Florida, not Ohio) in 2000 and joined the radio station. That same year, he took over The Electric Kingdom, which was at the time Miami's only outlet for IDM and weird Electronic music; he hosted that show until 2007.

Later the following year, he got a call from his old friend and fellow job shadower, Lottie, and the Glitch-IDM Show was born!

I thought you did a not so good job of introducing the show to new listeners. Welcome to the Glitch where we __. You didn't explain what type of music you play and then when you did it made no sense. You are using Amazon S3 as your media host which means you are paying WAY to much. Go to Libsyn.com and use the coupon code sopfree to get a free month.

Opinion:

The intro has some nice energy, and it shows you are taking this podcast more serious than two guys one brain show. I liked that you started off and shared your current experiences which gives you credibility, and you did this without bragging or dragging it out too long. Then you got to your format, which apparently has a quick tip, and you had a great tip that was in the news (which might bring you more traffic to your website as well as being useful about phones and their battery life. A great test of a show is if someone shuts it off, did you want to hear the rest of it, and in this case I did.

Opinion:

I like the introduction. It had some good production. It needs to explain that the show is about (not just who the guest is). You did a good job of introducing your guest. I liked that you jumped right into an interesting part of his story (instead of the "tell me about yourself"). The guest then went on and on, and the original question was "tell me about failing out of college." He seems a bit all over the place and a bit of an "UM" machine. I'm not an UM nazi, but these were UMs that were super easy to cut out. He explains how he went to food, to movies, etc and seems to go all over the place.  I would definitely edit your interviews in the future. You will hear how I took his answer and took the best parts of his answer that applied to the question. I also took out some ums, a lip smack, and a "Ya know." I only took out the easy ones. You want your guest to sound smart, good, etc and this might mean some editing is needed.

You mentioned you would put links to the book, but then didn't mention where (probably because you don't have a website). A Facebook page is not a great home for a podcast. You want someplace where people can (at a minimum) subscribe and listen to your show. You REALLY want them to subscribe.

For only episode seven, I've heard worse, but edit the show, update your website, and let people know what your show is about when they tune in and you'll make a better first impression.

Opinion:

The News and Politics category doesn't have a ton of podcasts to choose from so we end up in the what's hot. TED Talks are meant to inspire you to change. They have some of the best speakers, and rarely disappoint. The talks are short and to the point. The audio is taken from the stage so it's OK.

That Just Might Work

Description

The toothbrush. The popsicle. The blender. The inventions we use every day of our lives — what, you don’t have a popsicle everyday? These inventions that were invented before our time have been largely unimproved for decades. Is this because they’re perfect the way they are? Or is it that we’re so set in our ways, we’ve become afraid to innovate? Why isn’t there a spoon that better suits our needs?

Opinion

I liked the energy of the intro, and I like the idea of the show, but you took way too long to get to the content, and there are much more efficient ways to do your announcements. The other thing is I haven't heard your show yet, so why would I want a sticker, or subscribe? Get to the content. The introduction of you co-host was a little wonky as well. All you need to say is I'm Jason, I'm Jesse and get to the content.

Membership Site and Online Course Marketing: How to Make, Market & Monetize Online Digital Content - Subscribe Me at SubscribeMe.fm

Description

SubscribeMe.fm is THE podcast that teaches you all about creating a highly profitable, long-term business with online courses & membership sites with recurring subscriptions. In this podcast, and I don't mean just this episode, but the entire series, I'm going to be talking about how you can build a successful business by creating subscription-based products and services that bring in recurring income month after month... where you don't have to go hunting for new customers all the time, where you can focus on creating a remarkable product - like Seth Godin would say - A product that your customers love, where they keep paying you to keep delivering your product or service, and where you get to actually focus on your remarkable product - and improving it and adding to it over time, and you get to focus on, quote-unquote "Enchanting" your customers, like Guy Kawasaki would say. The main focus of this podcast will be how to make, market and monetize your online digital content. But here's a list of other topics that we will get into in this podcast series. * The Subscription Model, how you can add one to your existing business, and how you can improve your existing subscription-based offers. * How to create the "Perfect" Product * Various tools and services that you will need when creating an online course * Explore various Self-Hosted and Fully-Hosted Solutions * Third-party Marketplaces where you can host your online course * How to create content For Your Membership Site: Both creating your own, buying content vs getting others to create your content for you. * What is the Commitment Ascension Model (CAM) * What are the various Membership Models & Content Strategies * Pricing Strategies * Payment Processing options * How to do Marketing for Your Membership Site and get new members * How to start your own affiliate program and get others to market your course for you * How to use other platforms like Podcasting, Email Marketing and Social Media Marketing to build an audience and then sell them stuff * How to get members to stay - thus increasing your Customer Lifetime Value (CLV) * To Drip or Not To Drip * Are forums worth it? Where and how to create a forum? Should you do it on facebook? Or on your own site? Or use a third-party service and embed the forum on your site? * One-time Product Launches vs. Evergreen Products * Membership Site Design * Membership Site Launch * Selling Your Membership Site

Your name is getting cut off in iTunes, and unless you're paying me $5 I would never read your description in iTunes. Also, realize there is no formatting in iTunes/Apple Podcasts and it is one giant chunk of text.

I liked the show, high energy, and you get right to the point. You did a quick and painless commercial for coolcast player. I was worried at first that you were reading your show, then when you get into the "why" you should look at your goals I could hear the personality and opinion come out. I loved that you used examples that we all can relate to and it made it funny and identifiable. As this is a show about memberships, I was surprised you didn't mention your work at Digital Access Pass (as that adds credibility to you). I am definitely adding your show to my "Marketing" playlist in overcast.

Opinion:

The intro music was a bit loud, but the audio quality was OK. You are right on the verge of needing a pop filter so if you don't have one go get one. The podcast starts off explaining what the show is about, and gets right to the point. You made the medical disclaimer quick and simple and got to the content. Overall a good first impression. On a side note,

The Packers Fan Podcast

Description

The unofficial "Packers Fan Podcast" is for and by fans of the 13-time NFL Champion Green Bay Packers, hosted by Wayne Henderson at MediaVoiceOvers.com and Troy Heinritz from The Blacklist Exposed podcast. This podcast is not yet affiliated with the NFL or the Green Bay Packers. Just sayin'...

Opinion:

Good intro, good energy, great production.

It was funny and kept moving. My only complaint is you start doing double introductions. You introduced the topics at the top of the show, did some of them again, and instead of getting to said topics, jumped to the apps that are available and other non-content related. Not a big deal, but I was getting impatient about hearing about what was coming up, and what to just get to it.

It never hurts to have the creator of the show introduce your TV show podcast. I liked the intro and energy of the intro, your fun banter at the beginning actually made me laugh (very rare) and you get right to the point. I normally don't listen to TV show podcasts, but I might come back to listen to this one. I would recommend it especially for those people who watch the blacklist.
